SHAVER LAKE, Fresno County — October 27, 2026. A proposed land-use change on a small property near Shaver Lake is moving through the county’s planning system. Fresno County’s public environmental-project listing identifies Initial Study No. 8977, General Plan Amendment No. 585 and Tentative Tract Map No. 6353, a proposal to divide a 2.0-acre parcel into six single-family residential lots.
Where is the property?
The property is identified as APN 136-400-54, located southeast of Sunset Vista Lane between Shaver Forest Road and Crest View Lane, in the unincorporated community of Shaver Lake. The applicant seeks an amendment to the Shaver Lake Forest Specific Plan to change the designation from condominium to single-family homesite to match the proposed subdivision.
What stage is it in?
The county’s project-review listing gave October 19, 2026 as the deadline for comments on the associated environmental study. That review period has passed, but the listing alone does not demonstrate that the final map is approved, that parcels have been recorded or that homes are under construction.
Additional public approvals, conditions and infrastructure review may still be required. Local questions include access, emergency evacuation routes, fire-safety standards, drainage, utilities and how any future buildings would fit the surrounding neighborhood.
How residents can follow decisions
Use the county’s public planning project webpage to request the staff report, environmental documents and hearing information. Do not rely on a preliminary environmental listing as permission to buy a lot or start construction.

Editor’s note: Six lots are proposed, not six confirmed completed homes.
